Q: What are your DJ qualifications?
A: I've worked in the radio industry since 1983... On-Air, Assistant Program Director and Morning Show Producer. I've also been a DJ in local clubs and have owned and operated Dan Dubay Professional DJ Service for over 20 years. Past Morning Show or Host positions include KMJK FM, KISN FM, LITE 95.1 FM, and KQAK FM.
Q: Can we meet or do you only conduct business over the phone?
A: Consultations are included at no extra cost. Meeting in person gives us the opportunity to exchange ideas and plan ahead so your event will be everything you've imagined! Clients who were too busy and could only plan through phone calls and email have been perfectly satisfied with our attention to detail and the end result of their events as well!
Q: Who will be the DJ for our event?
A: This is a great question because there are DJ services who don't know the answer to it until the week of your event. You deserve to know exactly who will attend to the details of your celebration. I perform each event personally – guaranteed.
Q: What about bad weather, like snow?
A: If the situation with your plans is touch-and-go because of weather... chances are I'll be on the way to your event or already setting up before you even make the decision to cancel. I'd much rather be ready long before your party starts than have guests waiting for the entertainment. I use one of two four-wheel drive vehicles. Snow, sleet, hail, traffic jams – I prefer to allow extra time to arrive safely. There is no need to worry about not having music at your celebration. While others may charge you a sitting fee to have their equipment there early – this is only good planning and part of the customer service offered to make your day stress-free.
Q: Why don't you expand and use other DJ's to increase your business?
A: I prefer to offer a more personal service and value my reputation. No one cares more about their business as much as the person operating it.
Q: Is there an additional charge for mileage, travel time, set-up or take-down time?
A: No – your investment includes all this and much more.
Q: Do you have a wireless mic that we could use for toasts or special announcements?
A: Yes – and there is a difference in wireless mics! Others may cut out or have problematic signal noise...while ours will give you a crisp, clean signal.
Q: Can you provide a sound system for the ceremony or music in a different area?
A: Yes, we can discuss your needs and make plans to accommodate you.
Q: What if you don't have some of the songs we'd like played?
A: Even with the music library being constantly updated – you may want some special songs to make your event more unique. Within limits, I'll research and make music purchases to fill your requests. Also, to personalize your event, selections from your music collection can be mixed in with the thousands listed in the Music Library.
Q: What if we need you to stay longer?
A: When you hire Dan Dubay Professional DJ Service, you have the valuable benefit of unlimited music at your disposal and as long as the venue allows. In fact, every agreement is set up with the understanding that you may need more music. There is no need to worry about paying for additional time. If for any reason, I am unable to play past a certain time, those limitations will be discussed prior to you approving the agreement.
Q: What do you wear?
A: For formal events – a Chadwicke & Essex of London tuxedo. If you want a business look, then a Stafford Executive, Izod James or John Clarendon business suit. For casual events, such as company picnics – khaki pants or khaki shorts with a Dan Dubay Professional DJ Service polo shirt. And if you're hosting a theme event, such as a sock hop, a letterman's jacket and jeans may be more appropriate – in which case, if you prefer, we'll dress the part too!
